Born paralyzed from the waist down, there was no specific diagnosis of Liesel’s condition. As severe learning disabilities became apparent, Liesel underwent numerous surgeries, stringent regimes of physical and speech therapy, and special tutoring. Overcoming these insurmountable odds, Liesel today is a young, independent woman, college student, experienced percussionist and music composer, and an articulate inspirational speaker.
I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to China and to speak to the Kunming International Academy, the missionary school where a college friend of mine is a teacher. Before heading to Kunming, my friend and I met in Beijing and toured some of the Historical sites. We climbed The Great Wall, quite an accomplishment for someone with paralyzed legs. PRAISE THE LORD! We had some unique experiences, making the entire trip in action and word a testimony for a powerful witness in a land where being different is frowned upon.

Greece is a place where yesterday’s history meets the modern day tourist. Liesel had the opportunity to go to Greece, in May of 2005, with a study group from Cornerstone University. The trip was organized by a Cornerstone University professor - Dr. Scott Carroll.
The purpose of the trip was to allow the group to walk where our Biblical ancestors had been. The unique aspect of this trip was the climb to the top of Mt. Olympus while carrying wheelchairs for three physically challenged students. Liesel was one of the fortunate three to experience this fête which has never been done before.
The following is a link to a movie trailer describing this trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyxeVSLXtZ0
